Arguments Against New Technologies
Medical technology is dangerous, especially the kind that tampers a persons genetics. Not because we don't know if it safe or not but we don't know what long lasting effects it may have on humanity. If we create humans that are much healthier, much stronger and much smarter, the mortality rate would sky rocket. The population would explode and eventually genetic terrorists would rise and we would have to fight against some of the scariest humans ever. However one could also argue that if we were to create more of these soldiers to fight for the non terrorist sides but that would just escalate the situation to a second cold but instead of bombs we use people.

Arguments For New Technology
New technology for medical procedures are created everyday but unfortunately it takes for ever for this stuff to get approved by the FDA. It is important that we explore and use this technology due to it's effectiveness. Why invest thousands of dollars into a procedure if you are going to risk it being unsuccessful when you can maybe spend a bit more and receiver more promising results. However, it must be noted that taking this path may lead to certain health risks as new technologies are new. Their long term effects have not been discovered and any possible damage to a fetus is unknown.
My Position
It's easy to say that a physician is for designer babies. The concept gives a physician more work, more patients and procedures to make money off of. The best part is how any risk involved can be blamed on the technology used or the genetic donors rather than the physician him or her self. However, a physicians chief priority must be create the healthiest baby possible with as least risk to the mother or all others involved. Therefore a physicians position must clearly be to accept the concept of designer babies only with the objective of preventing any genetic diseases rather than doing it for the purpose of changing eye color or making a child athletic.

What Technology Can Be Used To Harvest Desired Traits
The most likely technique a physician would use would be the CRISPR as explained by the insurance company. Not because it is the safest technique or the cheapest but because it is the most accurate limiting some of the risks. That is not to say CRISPR has no risks, but it's one of the best methods a physician would recommend.
Gene Sources
A physician would probably approve of gene sources located in medical institutions with clear and official records of the donated genes. A physician would most likely than not approve of a donor or recommend one that has not done various blood work and undergone various tests like that of a sperm donor. Click here.

Technologies Used to Synthesize and Implant Fertilized Eggs
The most commonly used form of manual implantation is IVF. Since it's creation it has been
responsible for more than two million children. However, some experts believe that extended use of
IVF may be harmful to both the fetus and the child. It may lead to complications such as restrictions
in fetal growth, gestational diabetes, as well as premature birth here. As a physician, I would not
recommend IVF if it were not necessary. A designer baby case would only be necessary if it were to
any possible diseases. However, if it were just a simple eye color change or athleticism trait, a
physician would not recommend IVF due to possible harm the mother, surrogate mother or child.
